Hi. I’m Sarah.

Like most women, I wear a lot of hats. Most days, I’m a working mom helping clients achieve their real estate goals and serving my community in a variety of volunteer and leadership roles. I’m also a deliberate investor, building up a portfolio of cash flowing properties and assets, while also growing a large portion of our family’s food on our half acre urban homestead. I love living every day to the fullest!

I’m a Coloradan.

In all of my work, I aim to better places in the communities I call home. My husband and I are both proud to be 6th generation Coloradans, and we have a shared love of the state and its history. We live in Castle Rock, Colorado with two doodle pups, a curly-fur kitten and a very cute baby.

My sports allegiances are strictly Colorado: The Colorado Buffaloes by marriage, the Denver Pioneers by alumni status, the Denver Broncos because I’m a Coloradan and the Broncos are basically religion.

I was raised in Colorado Springs spending my youth working in the family tourism business, a western museum which was started by my enterprising great grandmother in the 1950s. Her life as a female entrepreneur leading multiple ventures during a time when women were rarely in business has served as a constant inspiration to me.

I’m a placemaker.

A short stint in Nashville turned me from primarily a music lover into a devoted placemaker. That year spent exploring Music City was a time critical to my developing love of place, particularly the interactions people have with developed spaces and how to fill these spaces with life giving elements like music, food, and spiritual experiences. I shifted my path and later received a business degree with a concentration in in real estate and construction management from the University of Denver.

After completing my degree during the middle of the great recession, I was fortunate to gain employment for a developer, owners representative and civil engineering firm, working on over 20 projects in different development stages throughout the country. After two years of building car dealerships, I was ready for urban environments.

In 2013, I was offered the opportunity to lead special projects, initiatives, small business support programming and real estate development efforts for the Downtown Partnership of Colorado Springs. From leading the creation of a new master plan to launching a pop-up shop program, every moment at Downtown Partnership was so rewarding!

My time spent working in both urban and suburban settings throughout the country has helped me to understand why it is that our cities look the way they do, and what we can do to make our communities better places to live and enjoy for generations to come. Through intentional investment, informed policy making, thoughtful development and choosing to support local businesses, we can build better places together!

I get stuff done.

I aim to fail fast, lead ambitiously, deliver consistently, and always put forward my best work. I vote with my dollars, hunt for deals, and want to share my knowledge while learning every day.  I’m a big believer in partnerships and leaning on the experience of others when encountering a new problem. I especially hope to share my experience with other working mom’s in the commercial real estate space as we are few are far between!

I believe in giving first and leaving places better than I found them. Sharing my opinions and public speaking are second nature to me. My family always comes first.

I am not an athlete. I am unlikely to be found in the woods. I have a squirrel phobia. I’m allergic to bananas. I’m frugal. I can never eat the last bite of anything, unless it’s pizza. I’m technologically challenged. I love the ugly and imperfect and am drawn to the weird. I’m more inclined to can pickles than cook a meal.

This is me.

This is a space to share my personal and professional experiences as a working mom in commercial real estate, living life to the fullest. All opinions are my own, and be warned, I have many. If you are a placemaker and a community builder looking for some inspiration, this space is for you. Full time professional, part time gardener? Join me!  Whether you are a working mom in the commercial real estate sector, or just thinking about dipping your toes into real estate investing, this space is definitely for you.

Let’s build great places together,
